my character re-use experiments

blockhead's picture

So I was reading (in the docs for the single-player Utraeun Peninsula mod) about how one could take the same character (or the entire party) and re-use them to play through again. To make this more interesting, two plugins are included that change the difficulty to get the effect of the Veteran and Elite (or whatever they are called) modes available in multiplayer.

I couldn't import a plain Dungeon Siege character. Too bad, as that was my favorite character.

I could import a Legends of Aranna character, but the save game could only be played with the debug version, so that was really not an option.

I had success when I imported my multiplayer character. This was good, as this was actually a multiplayer version of my favorite character. Of course, since she was multiplayer, she had no henchmen.

I tried to add some of my other single player characters and they all crashed the program right away.

While it would be possible to add clones of the multiplayer character, that would look and play strange. I'd have trouble keeping track of who was who. Tongue

I then had the idea of making a fresh character or two to get some custom henchmen that would resemble some of my other characters. I did this and it worked, but with one strange result: the head icon (upper left display, with character stats & inventory) didn't match. I imported a light elf with short dark hair and the icon in the upper left for that character was a light elf with long white hair. Not saving, I restarted and tried a few more times. I made new test characters, trying other looks, other races. In all cases, the icons did not match the face & hair ... but they did match the race.

So, I'm a day or two into a new U. Peninsula game, with my fav character, who is like level 50 or so, leading a bunch of newbies, one of whom is an elf whose icon does not match. Tongue

I wonder what happens, after finishing, when the entire party will be transferred?
