DungeonSiege - TACTICS (UPDATED - 06-12-07)

Alright so as promised I am creating a new thread on an idea I have for a compilation mod that would focus on tactical team based game-play for DS LOA. Let's face it the full potential of DS was never realized in my opinion. And although it's day has passed now more than ever is a chance to bring it back to life. If you look around the internet you will find all kinds of free games, pay to play or a combination of both that are really geared towards low-end systems and peeps not interested in spending a ton of money to upgrade or buy new expansions or entirely new games. Some of these games are fun, yet they don't really out shine DS. A game we already own right? So with that in mind DS still has a place in the gaming world if we can get others to see it!

Problem with camera angle mods in DS1

Greets EVBD

I'm new here so let me take this moment to say hello...

I've searched around the site for an hour or so and have been unable to locate any info about this so I'll post it here. I hope it's the right place as I'm still not clear on what the difference is between a mod and a sieglet perhaps someone can clear that up for me. I've seen downloads on several sites in both categories that only served to confuse me more.

However, that's not what this post is all about, so...

Here's the problem. I've been looking for a mod/sieglet that would let me view things from a lower perspective (ie; down to ground level. I'm not really interested in removing the fog of war effect, nor do I care about changing the zoom factor. It's just that when I zoom in close enough to see any kind of details, I'm basically looking at the ground in front of my character. It would be nice to be able to see things from ground level rather than the constant downward angle provided in the game.

Frustum

Wondering what exactly the frustum_height and frustum_width affect. Does height mean up/down (3d) or top/bottom (2d). Trying to make minimap larger and know frustum is the key, but utraean peninsula can wig out if the frustum is not set correctly.

Mesh Textures

I got some information from Frilly Wumpus about mesh textures while trying to create some mods for U5Lazarus. I was having difficulties because textures were PSD, also ran into the same problem in v1.5 mods.

Quote:
No, not for mesh textures.. just for UI textures. Mesh textures need to be RAW and mipmapped.

You can take a look out on the Abstraction website tools area:

http://www.dsabstraction.com/tools.htm

You can get the DS1 Tool compilation and in there is a utility called PSD2Raw that will generate the Raw file for you. That's pretty much the only place I know of where that utility is now..since most of the other DS1 sites have shut down.

New armor type

I was wondering what I would need to do to create a new armor type from an existing mesh. What I mean is, I want to take the long dress model that female NPCs wear, and adapt it as an ingame armor. I already attempted to do this by extracting the mesh and renaming it, but as you will see from my screens *cues suspenseful music* something has gone AWRY...

Here it looks like totally weird.

She is hanging out with her new bumblebee friend, complete with bumblebee hairdo. Obviously, you can see the whole 3D model here of the armor...weird.

Playable Succubus Queen for Abstraction

Since interest revived recently, I put the beta together for a playable Succubus Queen mod for Abstraction. Download it at http://dslcv1-458.fast.net/DS/download/sqplayable.zip

Since this includes some Abstraction files (modified to add her) it won't be compatible with other mods and maps.

Mod form (heheh) from China

Okay, the old school Dungeon Siegers...what am I thinking, everyone at SiegeTheDay, must remember that 'ole thread at Siege Network called "Mod form China". It was a mod that was created, apparently in the Chinese DS community. It contained some pretty amazing things.

thread link: http://66.225.220.102/forums/index.php?showtopic=9473&hl=china

Amazing. I found a copy of this rare mod at Sjr's Abstraction site, but I am wondering if anyone knows if anything else was ever released, as that version is incomplete. Anyone ever hear of a source, or more advanced versions being released?
Amazing stuff for DS1. Truely amazing.
