New Siege University 2 Article: Tuning Grids |
||
Submitted by Sharkull on Wed, 2006-03-08 23:09
GPG's own heroTop has posted the new Siege University article that was hinted at previously. Here's a quick snippet of the Overview: Quote: During the development of DS2, the "tuning grid" system was created to allow monster to be dynamically generated as nodes streamed into the frustum. This tuning system is composed of a series of weighted blocks created in Siege Editor on a region by region basis. The system takes a list of templates generated by the developer and assigns properties to each creature and their blocks. By doing this a developer is able to create a dynamic combat experience that changes each time a party runs through the region but appears random and is correctly balanced. forums: |

DS2 Expansion News |
||
Submitted by Sharkull on Tue, 2006-02-21 21:09
Spotted over at PDS: Quote: So, we all knew there was going to be a Dungeon Siege 2 expansion. Now we know a bit more. This will be one of those "add-on" style expansions, set after the events of the original DS2 game. If DS2 gave you 40 hours of RPG goodness, expect the expansion to give you another 10. Looks for the standard new items, new armor sets, and new monsters. Make sure you look for the news combo classes though: Blood Assassins (Ranged/Combat Magic) and Fist of Stone (Melee/Nature Magic). Potentially the most interesting aspect of the expansion, however, is the new "Brutal" mode, "which features tougher monsters but also rewards players with better loot earlier in the game." This isn't a new difficulty level in the same vein as Veteran and Elite. It simply gives players more of a challenge. Look for more news on this glorious expansion soon! forums: |
