Vrooooom..... *krug splat*

Templarian Arch Sorcerer's picture

Being inspired by Kathycf, I decided to take a couple hours to make a pack.....thing.

Sure, its a little rusted out and the wood is rotting, but it holds more than a mule and packs a better punch too. Wink

There is just one problem, it works perfectly except that I am unsure of how to get it into my party....
Any suggestions?

A summon NPC type spell seems to be a popular method...

You could always make it summonable..."summon Packthing". Charietto and Bare elf did that with the summon the forge mod. There are three pack animals that can be summoned to join the party, and they don't "fade away" like a regular summon. I was planning on making Toto a party member summon too. But did you make a portrait? I bet Packthing would need a cute portrait. Wink

*edit* Yea, what Sharkull said. (the nerve of people who post at almost the same time as me...) ^^

I made a portrait for it, it is a picture of the "furnace" in the back of the machine.

How exactly would I make a summon NPC spell? Is it as simple as a normal summon template, or does it require a separate skrit to govern it?

I think it does need a seperate skrit, yes. Not knowing that much about skrit, but with the summon NPC spell mod there is a seperate skrit so that you don't earn "experience"by using the spell as you would by casting a summon gargoyle spell for example. Plus, if you have a summonable party member you don't want them to fade away.

I borrowed the skrit from the summon NPC mod to try out with Toto for my own private use...and renamed it to work with my spell. If my project ever gets released for public use, I am going to have to make sure it is ok to borrow that skrit by trying to find the author and of course give credit for his (or her..but I think him in this instance) work.

My suggestion would be to look at that summon NPC mod and see how it was done...maybe you can write your own skrit (I don't know how, but I assume you do) and simply credit the author with "inspiring you".
