DS and DSLOA display problems

I have resintly reinstalled DSLOA and when I go to play it all i get is the splash screen and then the screen will freeze for the game. I can still hear sounds from the main game screen but I can't see them. I'v tryed uninstalling and reinstalling 3 times now but I get it to anymore then the splash screen and the sound. Can anyone help me here?

This is just a suggestion and I don't recall how to do it. But I remember that certain graphic cards had to be added to a textfile of sort. SJR helped a few people with this in the past so if he pops by you might be in luck, if no one else remembers how to do it ofcourse. Then again it could be an entirely different problem as well. A dual core setup might cause problems if you have one of those, in that case I would suggesting shutting one down before playing.

If you hear the sound then the game believes it's playing on your monitor. Check your desktop in Windows to see how many logical displays you have. You may need to reduce this to one (the real screen) before you start the game.

Remote support software often sets up a virtual display for the remote buffer. I have two real screens on my machine and DS always starts on the same one, whether I want that or not.

I don't know how DS decides which screen it will play on, but you can't easily choose with the command line, so just don't give it any bad choices.

I think the file that gets edited for newer video cards is system.gas, but I could be wrong. If you look at it, you'll soon know. And follow the link below to the abstraction site, there's a thread there about it.

I am not exactly sure as the most common issue for a "unsupported" video card (this means a newer card that is not in the system_detail.gas file) is that the game will run but you are limited to 60fps in all parts of the game, including the menus. With my current card, a 1950pro (agp) 512mb, I simply added the device id along with the same settings that the highest listed card has, as well as added the 1280x1024 mode and I would go higher but it seems for DS1 and DSLoA that the max viewable that will work is the 1280x1024, I was trying to set a wide screen as on my 22" wide screen monitor the characters look squashed (as they are widened to fit).

Adding your video card to the file may work but I am not sure based on that it is not appearing at all. If you list your video card I can give it a try anyways, it takes a couple seconds to add, provided I can find the device id. Most are easily found online if you dont know your device id. A easy way to find it is to go start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system information. Then pick Components and pick Display in it. It will actually list the device id in a couple spots but the second line should work, it will say something like: PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7280&SUBSYS_E190174B&REV_9A\4&1AD7642&0&0058 That is for my current video card, the "DEV_7280" tells me that the device id is 0x7280.
