..starting out in DS2BW

I scribbled down some notes as I started the expansion..

The saga continues..

There is much to be learned from talking to the NPC's in the initial area.. also from reading the various books and letters that are laying around.. Thus I was sad to hear of Tanzi's demise, I must admit - but that's Dungeon Siege for you.. despite your better intelligence, you wind up identifying with the characters - a tribute to the storymakers, for sure!

- the interactive dialogues that occur between the characters in your party re-inforces this aspect, as well - a great achievement and much praise goes to the game's designers for adding these little "atmospheric" touches..

I must say, Elys' AllSaves mod is very clever, the camera zoom is great - I haven't used the see-far aspect, yet - but I notice that the no-rings mod I applied to the original DS2 game has carried through to the DS2BW game - excellent!

- generally speaking, the 3D graphics look amazing, the game world is brilliantly realized - textures and sounds are of a very high quality..

I still find myself just stopping to marvel at the scenery..

... but when you move a party over to BW, the members that are already in your party are not duplicated as hireables, but everyone else is there - i.e. if you already have Deru, she won't be beating on a pell waiting to join you, but if you don't, she will be.

It always seemed wrong, in Veteran and above of DS2, that Taar could be in your party when you went to talk to Taar - even if the game did stop you recruiting the second one. I haven't checked what happens if you recruit Yoren at Mercenary and bring him back to BW in Veteran, but I imagine they have it covered. He's always next to a Dryad who could give the quest instead. Ressa is on her own, so I might have to check her quest out at Veteran with a Ressa already in the party!

I need to get my main chr's point score up for an attempt at the elite level of Broken World, so I started out in DS2 again with the same party from the expansion - including Ressa..

all went smoothly, and even when I swapped Ressa for Eva to complete her quest, everything was OK..

Eva came with an additional 78 bonus points for distribution ..wow!!

..never mind the weather, just as long as we're together!

into the Twilight Zone..
na na na na, na na na na..

- how can I get my stats high enough to do the final lap in DS2BW
I'll be monster-bashing for ages, before I reach the required level..??

When I did BW Elite the first time I used a party that I'd taken through Elite on regular DS2, and I had to redo Act3 completely to get enough extra levels. It was really a question of finding a restart point in the up-leveled DS2 map where your party levels "match" the mob levels, and for me that was the start of Act3. I'd continued after defeating Elite Valdis, going back for the side-quests I'd ignored the first time, and attempting the extra stuff with the bucket, book and token, so the party had continued a level or two further. If you went straight from DS2 Elite to BW Elite you might have to resume somewhere in Act 2.
