..known glitches in the basic DS2 game..??

- what glitches in the basic DS2 game remain unresolved at present..??

- do they affect DS2BW in any way??

The inn bug is the only one i know...

A lot of bugs are fixed in BW...

Has GPG said whether or not they are planning on fixing the Inn bug?

I think that is a no. The bug is not in BW, actually the extension tries to fix it. The bug is caused by DS2 sometimes messing up the save information so it would be up to Microsoft I believe to release a patch. You'd think GPG could just do it but somehow it seemed like they needed MS to release one.

I think it has more to do with who pays for it (2K vs. M$), as GPG would probably have to be the programmers for any DS2 patch (since they have the engine expertise required).

Also, AFAIK the Inn bug has two parts: 1) infrequent Inn corruption in the original DS2, and 2) complete destruction of Inn parties during conversion from DS2 saves to BW saves...

..according to GPG, the game is updated to v2.30 on installation of DS2BW
- yet, when played while DS2BW is installed, DS2 still shows V2.20..

- strange..

Edit: Oh nevermind, I misunderstood.

As stated in my review of BW, the original game of DS2 (published by M$) is apprently unaffected by installing the expansion (published by 2K).

So if you had patched before installing the add-on, DS2 will still be at version v2.2, and BW will be at v2.3. Wink

This is odd..

I've restarted at the Veteran level with Arianne - my previous character.. but she arrived in Eirulan at the start with full armour and weaponry from the previous Mercenary level - the entire party also appeared in the Dryad cage with her.. also complete with armour and weaponry intact..

The Dryad guard gives the same speech as before - mentioning that Arianne would be dangerous if armed (odd!) - the whole quest thing starts again - the horrid Dryad ring has returned to Arianne's neck!

Arianne has picked up the Morden Tower quest and is travelling to the Outpost - with the entire party from the Mercenary level..

Monsters have all increased in strength - another Deru appears by the lift in Eirulan - I'm a bit confused - is this all normal?

As Arianne and her party are all carrying enhanced items, the amount of gold received from chests along the way is vastly increased - she will break the bank in no time at this rate..

I've only got Elys' mod and Lady Femme's camera mod installed..

Has something gone wrong here...??

BTW - I've got DS2BW installed, but I want to try and get to DS2 Elite level before I start it..

That's the way it works... everyone (real life players) would be very upset if their hard earned items were lost upon starting Vet. / Elite, so it's easy to understand why GPG did it this way. You're supposed to keep all your gear, and your whole team too (a bit odd having Amren in the cell with you during that opening scene in the jail...).
Smile

BTW, if you're planning on converting your party over to BW and jumping right in to BW Elite you'll be underlevelled, and have problems with your Inn (known conversion bug mentioned previously in this thread). You can play the DS2 map using the BW executable, and then you shouldn't have any Inn problems (AFAIK the bug only affects converted parties).

That reminds me of another thing I found much improved in BW. When you entered the Broken World map, any party members were not duplicated in BW, but any other NPC hireable was there (and still hireable). If Eva was in your party, she would not also be waiting in the outpost.

It might make a nice mod to copy over the logic they used into the higher levels of DS2, if it could be done without giving that game an Inn bug!

Ever onward!

I shall continue on my merry way..
- will there be any problem doing party-member swaps..?
- I mean if I re-select the wrong version of my party, will I lose their inventory..? Shocked

- I fancy taking a pack-mule along this time..
- that should make life interesting - looking after it, mean..!! Wink

I've converted parties at both Veteran and Elite, without any unexpected problems. Because of the extra chapter, the required levels all get shifted, so you would normally want to restart your party in Kalrathia (using BW to play the existing map) to get up to the right level before moving over to the BW map. The mobs in the update Chapter 3 will be harder and give the experience you need.

You can delete and re-convert as much as you need to. The conversion places a modified copy of your party in the new save folder, without affecting the original. I did have a few items converted to BW equivalents in the process, which can result in a character not being able to use the equipment they have, so you might need to shop before you fight.

Consider the new BW pets, one is pack mule plus.

does anybody else get the freeze-up in the inventory..
I can't move any items between chrs - or wear/drop anything!!

this is happening in DS2map via the expansion start-up
is there a fix for this strange probloid..??

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
..never mind the weather, just as long as we're together!

I had the same problem many times. The only way I could fix it is to completly shut down my computer. When it would happen to me I couldn't even exit out of the game to shut down.

What if the hokey pokey really is what it is all about????
