Spam

Looks like post 5697, topic 23 (Standard DS2 Mod Read Me File Template...) is a spambot entry. Note the link from "partypoker".

Is there anything in place to help prevent this sort of thing?

Yeah, all we can really do is snip / delete the SPAM when it shows up.

Oh, and thanks ghastley for starting a new thread for this, instead of bumping the SPAM more... Smile

The ammounth of spam is increasing again...
Maybe the ability to post as guest should be disabled for some time...

Perhaps someone should write a program that counterattacks spammer's websites with spam.... a taste of their own medicine.... :o

that idea sounds cool, however counterattacks makes the person doing the counterattacks no better than the spammers, the counterattacks have to travel through innocent servers to get to the attacking server, and then ya could put yourself at risk, with that isp cause they may boycott ya and report ya instead... iffy situation. but yes spammers suck and it would be nice if they got swamped for a change lol

spammers always have little tricks up their "sleeves" and ways to get around being traced by sometimes making it seem if a private individual is doing the spamming, but in reality they are unknowing dupes.

Plus, as my mum used to say "two wrongs don't make a right" or "an eye for an eye eventually makes the whole world turn blind".
