Question about Party Members in vanilla game

Hi all,
Was just preparing to replay the first game I ever played back when I was a kid, and was going to try to do a canonically correct run. Anyone know what party is canon, I think its no set consistent party but I imagine you people might know?
Thanks!

Greetings Acleo_Dams

There is really no canonically correct party for either Dungeon Siege 1 or Dungeon Siege 2. Some people play with all mages, some play with all ranged or melee. Lots of us play with mixed parties. I find that it is useful when playing Dungeon Siege 2 that I have two rangers, two melee fighters and one each combat and nature mage. When playing Dungeon Siege 1 I tend to use a mixed party where each member has two primary skills. So with a full party of eight I would have 8 rangers with this mix of secondary skills, 3 Combat Mages, 3 Nature Mages and 2 melee fighters. I tend to lean toward Rangers as I have made custom bows for both DS1 and DS2.

My advise is just go with whatever mix of party members suits your taste. You will find that some maps are better for one party mix whereas another might not.

Okay, Thank You!

The game offers you companions one at a time, so I normally just take them as they come. Once the party is full, the new member has to be better than I have, or they don't join. The way you play will determine whether the new recruit matches your needs.

You didn't mention which game you were starting. Some people have played DS1 with just a team of packmules.

It's also viable to be a racist/sexist, and recruit only elves, or non-elves, or all males/females. I'm not sure if there are enough dwarves or half-giants for a full party without mods.

In DS2 you need the Legendary Mod for an all Dwarf or Half-giant party

Dwarf

Recruit all the characters you can hire for free: Ulora, Gyorn, Gloern, Merik, Sikra, Lord Bolingar. Nobody else. One packmule allowed too, if you like.
