Problem in the mysterious cave

lmonteiro's picture

Hello, everybody!

I'm playing Dungeon Siege 2 and I made my way into the Mysterious Cave. I killed those annoying prairie dogs, the evil companions and entered the rooms where I can see the staff of the game as NPCs - I even got the sword from the Colombian guy.

Here's the problem: I had to quit and, when I tried enter there again, the room where the evil companions should be is missing! The area where they should be found is completely black and doesn't even appear when I check the map using tab.

The game runs flawless in the other areas, though.

Here's the technical info:

- Windows 7 x64 (version 6.1.7601);
- i5-3320M @ 2.60 GHz, up to 3.3 GHz;
- 4 GB ram;
- I'm using an onboard graphic card, Intel HD Graphics 4000 and I don't have an offboard one. The driver's version is 8.15.10.2712;
- Dungeon Siege 2.0 (without any expansion, since the Broken World expansion gives me some fps problems);
- I use 4 mods:
- mysterion`s DS2 Modlet, which gives more points per skill level and multiplies the damage caused by the mobs;
- Uberstash, which makes the vault larger;
- Kyuubils Lucky Amulet, that gives me an amulet with +400% chance of finding magic items;
- 6 Members on Merc/Vet v1.0, which name is self explanatory.

Thanks in advance!

It is possible that one of the mods is causing a conflict. I would not think it is the 6 party member mod as I use that myself. I would advise removing the other three mods and play a new game (do not use a save!) up to the section where you have the problem. If the problem is still there then it is a problem with your install of DS2 or your not patched to the correct level. If it works however it is one of the three mods you removed. Reinstall one of the mods and play a new game to see if the problem re-occurs if it does not install another mod and repeat. Continue until you have the combination that causes the fault. Once that fault reappears try just the last mod you installed. It is basically trial and error until you find the problem.

I thought that I may uninstall and install the game again as well, keeping the saves, but both ideas, yours and mine, will take a lot of time. Thanks anyway Smile

And I'm glad to know that there's someone else here haha

The 2.2 patch is available in the downloads section, that may help

I feel dumb for not being able to do so haha

I downloaded the patch and extracted the files in the DS folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege 2). I tried unzipping to the system DS folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege 2\system), dev (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege 2\dev) and resources (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege 2\Resources); I tried executing the game with the original .exe - DungeonSiege2.exe - and the .exe extracted from the patch - gpgupdate.exe - no success.

By "no success" I mean to say that when I open the game, it says that its version is still 2.0, seen in the bottom left corner of the starting screen.

I am assuming that you are using a retail box CD or DVD version and not some downloaded version off the Internet. What you need to do is download the patch to your download directory and run it from there. If the update works correctly it will update all the directories of the game and automatically install the new .exe file.
Doing it using the steps that you stated you used will not work.
