Chatty Kathy's

How about a thread of general chatting? Maybe we can post things about ourselves to get to know each other better, or just post chatty stuff. So anyway, here are a few things about me:
My name is Kathleen.
I am in my late 30's.
I am 5 foot 2 inches.
I have dark brown curly hair that is to the middle of my back.
I like to read and write and play Dungeon Siege.
I like to post in forums.
My favorite pizza is mushroom

So...tell me about you? Smile

BTW, this is the "real" Chatty Cathy

Cow type things are always wlcome, we live to keep sjr happy Wink

Here is a link to my school. I took the Spring semester off, so now I have to get re-admitted and choose my classes ect. Yes, it is "only" a state school, but offers excellent degree progarms in nursing and early childhood development as well as media and communication.
I hear their behavioral science dept isn't too shabby either...:P

Reaper, that wasn't off topic. This is an off topic chat thread. Smile *pokes Reaper*

Remember, folks feel free to introduce topics of discussion if you like (within forum rules ie meaning no profanity, links to questionable sites ect, ect.)

My current topic, (which the person below me is free to change) is movies.

Once again, I am going to the drivein movies and these are the 2 that are playing. Any opinions? I don't know anything about either.

Monster House
Click

Sharkull's picture

Click is a comedy about having a universal remote for life (FF through fights with the girlfriend, slow motion to check out a jogging babe...). Apparently some immature fun, if you like that kind of thing (I do Wink ). I havn't seen it, but it looks like there might be a life's lesson / hollywood ending in there too.

Not sure about the other one...

Ah well, sounds like good drivein fun, then.

pssst... u got file/printer sharing working on your home network yet?

ahhh, Miss Femmesy.

Long answer:
Well... originally I had said, "Hey, I am happy with a shared internet connection, we can play a few games multi-player over a LAN , that is good enough for me." my bf was the one that was so gungho for the whole networked thing, but he doesn't know who to ask or anything like that. He nagged and complained to me until I said I would ask around. I told him, "you want the network so badly, you do the work and leave me alone." I copied all responses made here and in my blog at HF and put all the links I received into one text document for easy access. I emailed that document with a wealth of info in it to him and he...did...NOTHING.

Sometimes there is just no pleasing some people!!!! Crying Evil Crying

Oh yeah, the short answer...no.

Once again , thank you VERY much to all the people who responded with helpful suggestions and information. I am sorry I am such a knucklehead.

Hmm....I would love Dungeon Siege 2....if I could play it without it being so laggy.

DS2 is ok so far, but will not replace DS1 in my affections by a long shot. While there are a few things about DS1 that I wish were different, I still think it is great.

How true, Kathy, how true. DS2 is fun, too....I'm gonna work on getting a more efficient computer to play it faster.

I like both almost equally.

Ds1 = 60%

*brain stats*

Ds2 = 40%

I liked DS2 when I played it (borrowed), but I think it tries too much to be like a medieval KoTOR.

Hello Kathy and Happy Birthday Laughing out loud

Thank you TAS and LOUP! Laughing out loud

Why a person does something is far more important than what a person does.
As an example
There is a need for medical aid in some location.
Two people respond a movie actor and a small town doctor.
The movie actor sends medical supplies which are purchased by funds that his fans send him after he talks about it on a talk show.
The small town doctor closes his office, buys medical supplies and a plane ticket out of his own money. The doctor treats fewer people than the supplies the actor sent.

However the doctor's action was from his heart and the actor did it for the press releases.

So you can not base what a person is on what they do, you must look deeper and discover why they did it.

A big HB to Madame K!!
(If indeed, it is today..)
Enjoy your life..
..that's what it's for
you're half-way out to 64!! Wink

Thank you guest...my b-day was the 26th Smile

Lili, your statement is at once cyptic and plain.

Sharkull's picture

Both the what and the why are important... The "what" is important to the people being helped, and the "why" is important in forming an opinion on the perpetrator of the good act (although mind reading is hard to do sometimes Smile ). Both factors put different things in context... perspective is important too.

Yes, that was the part that was clear, I am just confused on the context of the statement as it was sort of made in and of itself, not as part of the other posts. Was it a reply to something that happened or? Or what?

Sorry Lili.

Sharkull's picture

Isn't Chatty Kathy's a place for posting / discussing random thoughts?

BTW, I didn't question "why" lili made her post, only responded to "what" she wrote... :P

Ok, I will take it in the spirit of randomness, Oh Wise Fishlike one. :P Wink

(and don't roll your emoticon eyes at me, young man! ...) Cool

Sharkull's picture

I was rolling my eyes at my own attempt at dry wit (what vs. why). Wink

Your questioning "why" she posted what she did is actually a comical extension of her post's content... (at least I think so).

Loup_Ombrage's picture

I sort of agree with what lili said, but like Sharky said, the "what" the actor did is important to the poeple that needed the medical attention, even though it may have been for the wrong reasons. The doctor's reason was preferable, but....

There is an anti-smoking advert shown off and on here (in Massachusetts, anyway).

It talks about a tobacco company that donated 100 thousand dollars to charity, and then spent millions advertising that they did so. That is a very expensive pat on the back....

Tobacco companys just do that to cover their butts so they do not have angry mobs knocking down their factorys.

I posted what I did exactly for the reason that I did. It may have been seen as a random event but I do not very often do something that is random there is always a plan even if it is unknown by me at the time that I do it. That is what happens to the mind of a girl who has crazy campers that are affraid of showers camping on her land, to the mind of a girl that talks to horses and has a pet wolf that she is sure understands humans better than she ever will.

It was a post with a good message, Lili. I meant no offense, sweetie.
