Chatty Kathy's

How about a thread of general chatting? Maybe we can post things about ourselves to get to know each other better, or just post chatty stuff. So anyway, here are a few things about me:
My name is Kathleen.
I am in my late 30's.
I am 5 foot 2 inches.
I have dark brown curly hair that is to the middle of my back.
I like to read and write and play Dungeon Siege.
I like to post in forums.
My favorite pizza is mushroom

So...tell me about you? Smile

BTW, this is the "real" Chatty Cathy

He is an older guy (late 40's early 50's around that age group, so probably not. Wink Is that a big town, sol? He showed us a pic of the view from his front window and it looks pleasant. (albeit snowy... :D)

Nah she didn't know him, but the world has proven to be small before so had to ask. Smile
I don't think it is very big. Around 60.000 people or so living there.
That was probably an old picture since Ekilstuna is around 10-11 hours
south of here by car. It is relatively close to Stockholm if that means anything.

Yep, ok. Google has maps...Google has it all, man! Actually he showed the pic a few months ago, there is a thread there just for member photographs.

Never did get to see my movie. We had snow the other night and since I didn't shovel the driveway....I don't get to go out. :P

I went to go see Premonition starring Sandra Bullock with my girlfriend this week. It was ok, kinda cliche, some plot holes, but enjoyable none the less if you like physcological, head twister type movies, where the plot doesn't all click till the last 10 minutes. That is if you can't see it coming

XD

I saw the ads for that one, it also has Julian McMahon in it. I actually like thrillers like that and Julian can take my mind off of any plot shortcomings. Wink

I am beginning to wonder if I will get to the movies at all. Before it was snow, now I think I have bronchitis. Feel kind of sick. Sad And then there is school vacation, that is around now in my town, although I am not sure of the date. I hate sitting in the movie theatre with a bunch of hyper kids.

Today is unlucky...so if you haven't experienced any bad luck today...consider yourself lucky! Wink Laughing out loud

Quote:
The sixth day of the week and the number 13 both have foreboding reputations said to date from ancient times, and their inevitable conjunction from one to three times a year portends more misfortune than some credulous minds can bear.

Though no one can say for sure when and why human beings first associated the number 13 with misfortune, the belief is assumed to be quite old, and there exist any number of theories — all of which have been called into question at one time or another, I should point out — purporting to trace its origins to antiquity and beyond....ancient civilizations weren't unanimous in their dread of 13. The Chinese regarded the number as lucky, some commentators note, as did the Egyptians in the time of the pharaohs.

:fear:

Especially if you have paraskavedekatriaphobia / friggatriskaidekaphobia. Wink

I have actually been quite fortunate today. ^^

1. Perfect timing with busses

2. Was starving and wanted taco buffé but I was going to have to wait 30 min before they started serving it, but they were ready to serve just a few minutes after I got there so me and my friend could start eating right away. A good thing since we both have problems with blood sugar and blood preassure.

3. Me and said friend were able to escape the culverts below school after being locked in for 30 min. Smile

Sharkull, say what? Laughing out loud

Friday is "Frigga's Day". Frigga was a goddess, although her name now resembles a euphemism for the "f" word. :P

friggatriskaidekaphobia

Quote:
A morbid, irrational fear of Friday the 13th.

Also known as an irrational fear of John Carpenter movies...(he did direct Friday the 13th right?) Wink

P.S. How do we enable smilies?

Hey Matt, soon us oldies will be taking over this joint. Laughing out loud

Usually for smilies I just type in one and it converts it into a smiley...Like a colon and a D will make this one: :D.

Look over on the left hand side of the page where it says site and you will see a list of smiles. I copy and paste the "code" thing, but I am rather inept, so you had better ask our resident smiley expert, Sharkull for a better explanation. Tongue

Kath,
Actually I think the smilie listing you see in the menus is a staff / admin screen (I don't see it as a guest).
:fishslap:

volkan,
Emoticons are coded in manually, and you can see a full listing of the codes on one of the help screens. When composing a post, underneath the area where you enter the text, there will be a link titled "More information about formatting options". At the bottom of the linked page is the list of smilies and codes.

Note: Site upgrades are being looked into (by :sun: ), one possible upgrade may be a more user friendly smilie interface.
:dance3:

There, I knew the president and ceo of smiley corp would know the answer....
Shark

Watch who you're slapping with a trout though...dancing carrot takes such things very seriously. ^^

Gonna have to make a list for the smilies Laughing out loud Some smilies will get my carpal tunnel going though :jawdrop: Wink

One Smiley to rule them all, One Smiley to find them, One Smiley to bring them all and in the darkness bind them: :girlwerewolf:

I'm missing the waving smiley Kathy loves so much :P.
But this one will do too: :cheer:.

You can see the list with smilies when you click the More information about formatting options text you see when you write a reply, it's above Attachment.

A perfect job for a Paladin:

Wink

(Too bad Kathy's "one smiley" doesn't look better on the black background... perhaps I'll change her hair colour...)

Just be happy I didn't upload my entire collection (well over 500 now).

Note: I see a bunch of unimportant codes (" ") within the smiley code listings... just ignore that junk (it should be hidden, it's just a separator for between multiple codes for the same smiley).

Hey, I just now added the wavey one to the lineup! :wavey: You can now find wavey with the other smilies. Laughing out loud

Yes, she should be blonde or another light color to show up. If you want to undertake that quest, you will need 8 other smilies to accompany you... Wink

Was hoping those codes were not necessary Laughing out loud Carpal tunnel feelin' better already :dance2::sun::yahoo:

Sharkull's picture

...I wouldn't want her to disappear on a light background (if one becomes available in a new site theme), so I went with brunette instead of blonde. This was also the easiest thing to do (a 10 second change), redefining a single colour within the palette (and the same colour within the screaming mouth doesn't look too bad... making them different colours would be more time consuming).

If you like this version I'll upload it onto the site. Smile

Edit:
I decided to do the colour separation anyways... and since they're independant now, changes are super easy.

The red hair looks like it would stick out equally well on both a light or a dark background. Nice, Sharkull.

I went with the light brown hair because that has good contrast with light and black backgrounds. If you really want a readhead ( I mean redhead ^^ ) just let me know.

So, Solly = :sun:

Kathy = :girlwerewolf:

I'm Shark

BE = Elf

That leaves two staffers without their own emoticon. Hmm.

I have a spider in a web that might do for Strider (unless he has some other preference).

And for Wyvante, I have a couple martial arts smilies but the only dragon smilie I have is this one:

Thoughts?

LoneKnight's picture

Have any knight smileys?

Sharkull's picture

The closest one I have is the (very knight-like) paladin:

I also have a few variants on this theme (a couple with 1h sword + shield...):

Edit:
I just found a HUGE listing of smilies (including many of the ones I have). The page is a bit flakey for me so I just copied the files from my browser cache and looked at them separately.

volkan's picture

That's some list :jawdrop: Will the smilies work anywhere if the proper code is entered :shark:?
