How about a thread of general chatting? Maybe we can post things about ourselves to get to know each other better, or just post chatty stuff. So anyway, here are a few things about me: So...tell me about you? BTW, this is the "real" Chatty Cathy forums: |

Happy St. Patricks's Day everyone!
Oh yes, the day when everybody is an honorary Irishman or woman.
Of course St. Patrick was not a native born son of Ireland, but he has become deeply entwined with the history of Ireland. You can learn more:

Yes, happy St. Paddy's!
- and the Irish team are going great guns in the Cricket World Cup, too
- hope you had a hoot!!

..never mind the weather, just as long as we're together!
Us Irish folks across the world always go great guns.
And the best thing is I didn't have to eat any corned beef and cabbage!

I am not Irish of any percent but I do enjoy a good Guinness.

Guiness is a far better representation of Ireland than corned beef and cabbage. It is also the sort of beverage to put "hair on your chest"...

Guinness is a great stout, but I found that I like Beamish even better.
Hope you don't drink too much Guinness then, Kathy. :P
No, because I don't want any hair on my chest... :P
(or at least not too much...) ^^

Guinness is by far the best, especially if you drink it in a Dublin bar..

Kitty agrees with you! (Yes, this is belated, but sooo cute! :D)

Oh my goodness. Kitty sure has great taste.
Heh, indeed. Of course nobody should really let an amimal drink booze but the pic is really cute.
In that vein, this Kitty has an attitude problem...

Very true. Hopefully they only let it taste.
Wow, a sarcastic cat.. just like my Matilda used to be. Cats are just awesome. ^^
Matilda wasn't that ugly though.
Ugly? Well, he just has a lot on his mind... :P
"This is serious business, and he are a serious cat"...or something like that.

Statement: Cats are better than dogs.
It would be fun to have a formal debate with either side presenting evidence, see if it wins.
Dunno, it is really subjective. I have a dog and three cats so I love both. It is hard to compare the two, and probably isn't fair to either to compare them. Since we are on a kitty theme for the time being, let me share a pic of the very creature that is crushing my legs right now....2 and a half feet long from top of head to tip of tail, and just about 28 pounds. I give you...Stanley.

Who let the dogs out? (Who, who, who, who, who!). :dance1:
I eat cats. Just kidding.
Dogs are better. More companions, IMO.
Great, now I have that song stuck in my head! *cues menacing music from Jaws*
Stanley, here kitty! Come crush Mr Shark's legs (fins?) like you crush mine.... :P

Any friendly kitty is welcome to come and warm my lap anytime.
As for any comparison, it's not a fair one for me. I have known a few friendly cats in my time, but I've always been intimidated by most dogs (probably caused by a childhood trauma... I was chased by a relatively big dog when I was very little... it was almost as tall as I was... ).
Precisely... You do not see a cat killing someone, but dogs do.....
Dogs may be so called tame, but inside they still have rather violent and dangerous instincts.....
Now kittys on the other hand are not dangerous at all, also, they will not drink from the toilet or slobber all over you.
Erm, I love cats...as I love most animals. But, cats most assuredly are predators, so I am afraid I must disagree with you about their being dangerous, TAS. I was clawed in the face by one of our cats when I was little (she was feeling cranky and protective, it really wasn't her fault...I was trying to pet her babies). Actually I suppose the danger is relative to size. Just ask a mouse or a bird if they think cats are dangerous. I must also disagree about the toilet thing. Several cats that I have had really like drinking out of the toilet, yet I never had a dog who did so. I keep the lid down because I am afraid Stanley is going to get caught in there, and drown. That would be horrid.
@Sharkull, yea, Kitty warms my legs. But at his size his body covers most of my legs all together, and he is so freakin' heavy!
I hate to sound cliched, but the way you raise a dog really does affect it's temperment. Some breeds are more aggresive than others, yes, but still. My dog Dillon is mostly pitbull with a little german shepard in him as well. He is about 75 pounds and is a fairly large dog, although not huge. When I got Stanley as a kitten (about 8 weeks old) Dillon used to lay down on the floor on his side and the cat would climb all over the dog, yanking on his ears and biting him. Just rough housing and playing, like a normal kitten. Dillon just laid there and allowed it, encouraged it even. Stanley used to attack that big waggy tail as it thumped on the floor. I wish I had a videocamera back then, I would have loved to have that recorded that.

"Domestication" of animals is not a natural thing. Most breeds of cats and dogs were wild once, and each still have wild examples of their ilk (predatory felines and canines are plentiful in the animal kingdom). Everyone, with their particular life's experiences, will have their own opinion on each category... and nobody's opinion is invalid (unless you happen to disagree with me ... :P ... just kidding ).
I'm sure that some of the dogs I've known have had very gentile and friendly personalities, but I've never been able to warm up to a dog. I know why and live with it. I just hope my future wife (whoever she may be) isn't a "dog person".
Oh, and Kathy, I can just imagine the little kitty chasing Dillon's tail. *pounce* *pounce*... You also could have taped it for America's Funniest Home Videos (some of the pet videos are waaaaaay too funny).
I can just watch those forever. I have a compilation of those that I found on the net. It always makes me laugh.
The pet clips are the only ones I like. It seems many of the other video clips are of men getting whacked in sensitive portions of their anatomy, women falling over while wearing wedding gowns and kids doing other things that look painful. Bleah...
Poor Dillon, he still wants Stanley to play with him and Stanley is going to be 5 in June...he prefers sleeping to playing. I think at 12, Dill is quite possibly the world's oldest puppy. NOt oldest dog, no. Oldest puppy.
