- being chased by gremlins.. *halp!*

Having surpassed all those cleverly devised traps,
I have Lands Of Utrae running sweetly, in 1600x900 res as well..!!
- Looks luvverly folks.. :woot:

Completed the game, (60 hours of sheer brilliance!!) Cheer
Now I plan on getting into the Enhanced Levels of the game,
via some DSLOAMod tweakery - However, I'm hitting a gremlin..

Gremlins are OK, if you're into Gremlins (don't want to start a riot!!)
- Me no like gremlins..!!

It occurs during the load-up sequence of DSLOAMod
I'm doing the "Ignore Always" trick (Nature magic?)
which gets the load-up restarted, etc - but.. da, dan, dan...

I'm now getting an Exception Error as follows:-

"A fatal error has occurred and the app must shut down
Cannot find world.global:sounds:vosounds in gas tree"

- so, me chase gremlin up gas tree..!! :orc:

"Halp..!!" :nervous:

Blondin it appears to me, but remember I wear glasses, that you may be missing one of the files from DS1 that requires conversion or one of those conversions was not done correctly. Would you be so kind as to post a list of all the mods currently in your DS2 resources folder and your Broken World folder so that one of us, Iryan, one of the testers, or myself can compare it with what we have installed?
Yes it is way cool that we can play the maps from DS1 in DS2 Now.

I believe Blondin is referring to DS1 not DS2 and this is in that forum not DS2s forum. Also DSLOAMOD is a specific DS1 mod for playing Legends of Utrea in Veteran or Elite mode.

That said I'm not sure what's causing your problem. Does sound like a mixup there as the sounds obviously has to be there or you would have noticed during norming play in regular mode.

It's lucky that DS2 has none of these restrictions on parties movement between maps. I'm at a loss on how to fix this problem or even what's causing it but will think on it a bit.

Yes, sorry - it's DS1LoA - via a Win7 set-up

I guess it's a system error of some kind..

My PSU has been glitching lately, so I'm replacing it
I don't think that's related, but means that I shall
be opening the case and tinkering a bit, in the next few days..

The normal DSLOA game runs very smoothly, so the sound file must be there somewhere
I have the game loaded permanently on-board via (ahem) a suitable piece of software..
- is this in some way related (checksums, pointers et al..)..??

Blondin,
I did some searching on your problem and I found several web sites where this exact issue was discussed. Not with Windows 7 however with DSLOAMOD I do not believe it is an issue the version of windows.
Xaa back in October of 2002 posted a link to game editing net where he said all was explained. Well as you know game editing net is no more. So using the way back machine archive I checked for entries that occured on 0ctober 12th 2002. However there are no posts at all for game editing net in October 2002 that where saved by the way back machine.

The Elf jumps up and down and yells really loud at XAA, demanding that he reappear and answer your question.

Maybe dsloa mod is conflicting with the software you installed? I assume it is something to bypass the game looking for the cd loaded in the disk drive. But if you have ds loa installed on another computer with out the additional software, maybe you can do a trouble shooting comparison. I am completely computer illiterate, so that probably is not the answer, but hey, "two cents" and all.

Anyway, I haven't seen you around these parts for a while, hope you are doing well. Smile

It's foxing me, I'm wondering if DSLOAMod is looking
in the wrong place for the file - I have the original CD
in place when I'm running the prog, as it requests the disk be present..

- maybe the initial instruction in DSLOA needs to be modified
in some way, to enable it to look somewhere else for the file..

'tis beyond my skills..

I have had it running before, but I seem to have lost the original workaround..
- if I manage to track down a solution, I will submit it here..

I do pop in occasionally - unannounced..
and still play the game in it's various formats
- also have been messing with the DS2/DS1 hybrid - great fun!!

Your suggestion re. the DSLOAMod comparison sounds interesting, hmmm..
maybe a tweak is required to the way it links to the vosounds file..

BTW: We are all well, and in good fettle - still residing in the Blue Havens

Hope all is well with you.. :woot:

Just noticed that the init sequence for DSLoAMod quits with
a message saying that it's unable to find my GFX card..

I'd previously adjusted the Prefs as follows:

driver_description = AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series - Hardware
width = 1600
height = 900
bpp = 32

- what was the original default entry in Prefs, I've forgotten it..?:wacko:

- maybe if I changed it back, the file will load.. (??)

it shud be:

Quote:
driver_description = Primary Display Driver - Hardware TnL

btw, didnt u add ur gpu to the system details.gas file? that is a better solution by adding ur video card's deviceid to the system details.gas file.

if it still doesnt work, try deleting the TnL part to disable hardware transform & lighting, tho a recent video card shudnt have problems running with TnL enabled.
