DS2 Broken World won't install!

Now that I've gotten re-acquainted with this website, I can finally complain about all my Dungeon siege-related problems to people who can actually help!
Not too long ago I had to entirely wipe my computer. The performance was horrid and it was overrun with a Virus I could not seem to break. After getting it all cleaned up, I installed Dungeon Siege. I installed Legends of Aranna. I installed Dungeon siege II. I installed Broken world- Oh wait! Bloody hell, the damn 'Install' button doesn't click! The Play button works just fine, but why is that- the game isn't even there?! I even found a 2K games folder in my computer, but get this- there was NOTHING in there! I'm actually rather pissed, I want my broken world back- Dammit! Need more details to help me out, Ask away.

So you can not get Broken World to install?
More info please.
What Version of DS2?
What Version of Windows?
Did you add any new hardware during the redo of your computer?

I ask these questions because an old version of DS2 that requires patches can prevent Broken World from installing if the patches are not installed.
Some versions of Windows can cause problems when installing all the versions of Dungeon Siege.

Let us know what versions of each if you will.

ok heres what I would do, sorry to say this but I would actually uninstall ds2
ok, I know u said u had issue with virus, but to reinstall ds2 turn your antivirus off for the installation, after ds2 is re-installed turn back on antivirus, goto gpg website and get ds2 patch 2.2 downloaded and install it. turn antivirus off and install broken world. should have no issues that way.

also may want to get ccleaner free version
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
and run a registry clean to see if bw show up. this program is handy for other things as well.

Darkelf,
I've had CCleaner for several years now, I run it every day. At your comment I realized I needed to go and download the newest version, that of which I did and... Same result. As for uninstalling and re-installing Dungeon Siege II, I'm afraid that remains.. more or less.. impossible. See, a few months ago my father was 'demonstrating' his skill with a metal pole from a broken bed. Sure, he could spin it around nice, but he was doing so inside and it ended in the unfortunate destruction of Disc 4 Of Dungeon Siege II. It is broken straight in half. Though, it could have ended a lot worse- ALL the discs, INCLUDING Broken World were in the case- and only Disc 4 got broken. As for other solutions to that, I have no knowledge of using that program that makes a computer think a disc is in the drive. Even if I did, I wouldn't know where to find the disc data online. Though... Before you mentioned that comment, while the disc was still intact, I tried that and... Nothing. Then again, I didn't do all the stuff with the Anti-virus.

bare_elf,
Dungeon siege II was version 2.0 at the time. Though after reading your comment I went and did the update to 2.2, then tried again. Same box came up as the picture I provided. I have Windows seven. I think we don't even have to state the fact that Windows seven and Dungeon Siege are not good bedfellows, but I had it working before. Upon re-installing windows and clearing up the computer and all that, I did not install any new software. But if you look at the picture I put up of the box that pops up, that's simply not normal is it? Anything I might need to know, do tell. I also had another thought, though I'm heavily doubting it working.. I had been thinking of Installing Dungeon Siege II on my sister's computer, then putting on Broken World, If it works on hers either that is. I would then transfer all the Broken World files onto the External Hard drive I have and see if I could manually slip it in the Dungeon Siege II folder. Would that work? If so, what exact files should I move?

Thank you both.

If I start the game using the normal start icon instead of the Elys Allsaves or Elys Succubus Manager I get the exact same screen Where it says play DS2 Broken World, Install DS2 Broken World Grayed out (disabled) and Exit. I had to check since it has been many years since I started the game using that path. I would think if you get this screen when you put in your broken world disk that the CD thinks the game is installed. However you said the folder was blank. Inside C:\Program Files\2K Games\Dungeon Siege 2 Broken World should be 4 folders maps, presaves, resources and system. If those sub folders are missing or do not contain anything I would suggest manually deleting everything in the 2K games folder and try the broken world install again. Check your email too.

Actually, I meant how the pop-up was all messed up. Not just the fact that Install was Grayed out, but the fact that the box itself seems glitched out. Perhaps that's a disk read Error, and perhaps that's the root of my problem. But I've already manually deleted the files, and same thing. I'm thinking of trying what I had said before, as it's the only route I haven't exhausted yet. Before I do so, any other suggestions?

Did you verify that there are no hidden files? You could always try the route you suggested but might be difficult since the values created in the registry will not be there. If you can install it on your sister's computer than when you copy it to a flash drive copy EVERYTHING in the 2K games folder

Elf Insane

I've taken care of the hidden files already. I even re-made the 2K folder to give the install an already-made folder to put all the stuff in. I deleted it again because it didn't work, not that I thought it would, and I'm now going to try the method I previously stated. If I could get a little help with the registry, I'd be most appreciative. Perhaps make a little download for me that will automatically change the registry for me, should I need it, or simply walk me through. Though.. I hope it doesn't come to that. Until then, thanks.

Aha! Ahahahah! So simple! I right clicked the icon in my 'Computer' Folder, the Icon of the game in the disc drive and selected 'Open in new window'. Yes, It opened everything INSIDE the disc, therefore I bypassed the startup entirely! It began the download. But with the end of one problem, comes another. It appears the game is having trouble actually doing anything. How do I mean? Well, I mean it began the download, but it stopped. So basically it says it's downloading though it's not actually doing anything.
"C:\... \Dungeon Siege 2 Broken World\maps\xDS2XWorld.ds2map"
Is where it stopped. What now?

At this point I think I would purchase a new ds2 disk set and a new broken world disk. You can find them at almost every game store in the used section dirt cheap and you can find them on amazon too.

Elf

try dloading nero discspeed (its free) and use the scandisc function to scan your ds2 and bw cds. if u get any bad red blocks, your cds are confirmed hosed. u have to get new ones. try getting a copy of ds2 deluxe off amazon or ebay.

i wud say u shud make backup copies but the discs use securom protection so u still need the original disc to play. the game will reject copied discs if u use them to play tho for installing it wont complain.
