Q&A

o_O No one has started this yet? The board's been on for *checks watch* 5 or so hours! What's with this world?

Thanks to Wizardo55 for the last SiegeTheDay one!

Well, now, who wants to start *in announcer voice* ANOTHER QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS BOARD? Cool (that was a question BTW)

Some deep-fried foods are okay.

What kind of food do you prefer (i.e. Japanese, Indian, Italian, etc)?

Mmmmmm, italian...

Q: What is the wierdest thing that you have ever eaten? :P

I once ate a tree branch! 8O

this thread is Q&A so if you answer a question you have to ask another one Laughing out loud

why did fair archer eat a tree branch???

I has to eat a tree branch because I had lost a bet. Wink

Q: Doesn't the word "quote" have a nice ring to it? :P

A.) yes, but then so does the word "bell" :P

Q.) When you are lost, is it better to ask for directions or simply keep going until you find your way..

Loup_Ombrage's picture

I didn't get where I am today by asking directions. Mind you, neither did the people who died lost on mountains etc....

Do you prefer mountains or lakes?

Sharkull's picture

Lakes are pretty common place where I live, so I'd have to go with mountains... literally awesome (even though I've only seen Canadian portions of the Rockies...). Mountain lakes can be quite beautiful as well (especially glacial lakes). Cool

Do you prefer summer or winter sports (participating and/or watching)?

Loup_Ombrage's picture

Winterish sports like rugby are okay to watch, but I like to swim in the summer. Not as a "sport" per se, though...

What is your faveourite band at the moment?

Sharkull's picture

I don't know if Supernova is going to be a favorite, but I'm kind of enjoying the reality TV show "Rockstar: Supernova". Real cool tunes every week... I wonder who's going to "win" (the show is basically an audition for a lead singer).
http://rockstar.msn.com/

Do you have any favorite realtiy TV shows?

A.) Jeopardy.

Q.) What is your favorite show that got cancelled by foolish TV executives?

Loup_Ombrage's picture

Sharkull's Q: Redemption Hill, probably the closest to actual reality that I know of- its about "bad kids" placed for a certain amount of time (I forget how long exactly) in a sort of "prison lite". I think they should get my deputy principal in as one of the wardens myself :P

Kathy's: Flash Backs, a music show that focused on the 80's and early 90's.

Do you think that there should be more screenings of older TV shows like M*A*S*H (which I saw 2 episodes of and liked), Fawlty Towers, Black Adder, etc?

A: Aaah, yes - never missed a single episode of MASH when it was first shown..

How about Das Boot - a magic series, about a German submarine crew in WW2?
http://www.film.u-net.com/Movies/Reviews/Das_Boot.html
- really gripping stuff - you end up identifying totally with the crew..

Also - I really loved Edgar Reitz' wonderful Heimat series..
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/cinema/features/heimat.shtml

Q: Has anybody else here seen Heimat?
- it's the most beautifully made production..
- it starts in B&W and follows the fortunes of a German family over the generations..
- moved me to tears in several places..
- magnificent film-making..

Sharkull's picture

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I've never even heard of Heimat... possibly never aired on Canadian TV. I have however seen every M*A*S*H episode many times... a pure classic (repeats still shown on a cable channel here, which give me a feeling of nostalgia when I channel surf into an episode...).

Which one of the five senses would you fear losing the most? (Sight, hearing, touch, taste or smell).

A.)Vision, because I rely so much on it and also it seems precious to me because my eyes are not the greatest. I cannot imagine not being able to see a sunset or the face of a loved one. Hearing would be pretty tough to lose too.

Q.) Do you believe humans have more than 5 senses ie a sixth sense? Not necessarily ESP or psychic abilities, but maybe a sense that our "modern" brain doesn't use too often.

A.) Yes Kathy I do. And I guess it is kinda like ESP. But I like to call it mamma sense. Parents will know what I am speaking of. For those of you without children I will explain..... it is that feeling you get in your gut that tells you something isn't the way it should be. easy example-you go to the kitchen to steal a cookie and mom yells from 2 rooms away to stay out of the cookie jar.......that is mamma sense!!!

Q.)Do you think I am full of crap with my answer???

A: absolutely not!!

Q: ..how do you measure wisdom?

:chase: Ghost
..eeek!!

Loup_Ombrage's picture

A: Wisdom is in the eye of the beholder. I generally go by how open-minded someone is, how much they value different things, etc etc etc.

Q: What is/was your favourite cartoon?

LoneKnight's picture

A. Peanuts.

Q. Do you take Metabolic Steroids to better your performances in competitions?

Templarian Arch Sorcerer's picture

Why would I need steroids to cheat in a quake deathmatch? Laughing out loud

Q: If you were to have a powerful staff, what would it be?

A: Star Sapphire on top, casts chain lightning when you hit
B: Brimstone on top, adds fire damage
C: Emerald on top, heals people
D: Ruby on top, no effect - just raises the value

A.) Star Sapphire, so it looks nice and does damage.

Q.) Coffee, Tea. Espresso, or Cocoa? (favo hot beverage)

Loup_Ombrage's picture

Cocoa, but even then I tend to dislike milo and the like as its too sweet. If it's hot, then I prefer a strongish chocolately taste :P.

What kind of SPAM/Chain emails to you get the most of?

Templarian Arch Sorcerer's picture

None, everything is filtered. Cool

Q: I have created a monster. :P
He is very powerful, and athough it is calculated to be "impossible" by the game engine, he can be killed. He is an uber-mage who uses a ton of nasty spells and abilitys, and yet he only looks like a floating skull. His body has aged to that point. 8O (obviously undead)

Tell me, how would you attempt to kill this monster?

Edit : His spell immunity is set to be immune to spells under level 6. (max is level 9)

very nice monster anyways,

Answer: I would use the best Fire Spell i had and burn the darn thing up, after all bones become dust and ashes when fire gets hot enough.

Question: Im not sure my answer is right, so the question is am i close to being right? lol

A.) I think you are pretty close...he doesn't appear to have any fire immunity or resistance. Although he appears to have spell resistance. Hmmm. :hmm: I wonder if being sickly sweet and ultra nice to him would get to him.

Q.) What do you think, should we pelt the creature with icecream cones?

Templarian Arch Sorcerer's picture

Laughing out loud That would just anger him. The "quickest" way to kill him is to cast mass heal on him, which normally heals the target to full health, but against undead it will reduce them to 1d4 health. Since he has an extra 75% vulnerability to positive energy, This will kill him right away, doing about 5000 positive energy damage. 8O

Fire works too, but it would be slower, and he would most likely kill you by then, either with his seemingly limitless spells, or by using his destruction gaze if you are of good alignment. :P

Q: Would you ever want to live so long that you would prelong your life as unnaturally as that monster?

LoneKnight's picture

A. Nope, despite the fact that I am indeed a practicing Catholic (Christian), I believe that there is a chance we can 'come back' to life, as has been show. Some people have memories of previous lives, and therapists/hypnotists have been able to make dozens of regular, everyday people recall memories from lives that they once lived years before they were born. While the Christian religion says this is impossible, I keep an open eye. Indeed, if we come back, I have no problem with living my natural life span, as I will just come back, possibly.

It's on my to-do list to see a therapist or hypnotist to see if I ever was someone in a different life. Note also that most 'other lives' are of relations; most people come back in the same family tree. You could be your own father's grandpa, or something. Strange. Of course, it could all be a load of crap, nothing but wild subconscious imagination. We could go to an afterlife, or perhaps we just cease to exist; become nothing. Who knows? Only the dead.

Q. Why do we have an average of 2 people joining StD daily, yet none of them post?!

Loup_Ombrage's picture

Because people join up on sites which they think look cool, they then can't be bothered to post or forget about it the next day (I know I've gone to sign up on many sites but then been informed that I already have a account).

LK's answer interested me: What are your thoughts on the afterlife etc?

Sharkull's picture

I'm not really in the mood to write a long answer to this one... but I will say that I want to believe there's something good waiting for me after death... However, desire as a basis to believe something can lead to false impressions of reality, so I have to say I'm not really a believer in the supernatural at all (big surprise eh?).

What is/was your favorite subject in school?

Loup_Ombrage's picture

At current, my favourite subject is known as musicianship, or MSS in my school, (its a "performance music" class and we also gain credits towards our exams next year- normal music is MUS). Next year I'm going to take music (no MSS in year 11/form 4/insert-grade-here), computing and hopefully drama- English, a math course, and a science course (different levels, can't take different sciences yet).

What subject do you like the least?
