WOW

Playing the 10 day free trial for World of Warcraft and I can see why it is the #1 online RPG. Not for the graphics or gameplay, (even though both are fantastic) but rather it is the community that makes it so outstanding.

I've made the conscious decision to stay away from WOW... considering that I have an addictive personality, it would be bad for me (in more ways than one). Wink

yes WOW is wow! lol the customization characters is very much like dungeonsiege, the quests are plenty and the map areas are huge, and if your lucky ya can find players to help ya do quests. i find the best part of WOW is the addons (mods) it has available to put in \World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder
the only drawback of WOW was the 15 dollar a month fee, which eventually made me quit the game, if i had the money i would of kept playing it...

for someone who doesnt have the game the best bargain is to buy the World of Warcraft BattleChest http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Battlechest-Mac/dp/B000H96C9M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1226869855&sr=1-1 , cause it comes with wow + plus expansion burning crusade plus the guide books for both games which have beautiful maps of the map areas plus a few hints. the battlechest is cheaper than buying wow and the expansion separate and gives ya more stuff.
also the new expansion of Wrath of Lich King has released but its mainly for high level players 50 plus. so wouldnt need that for a while.

for addons (mods) for WOW here are the best wow addon sites -

I will miss it a lot after my trial because I have no way to reinstate the monthly fees. No plastic or PayPal. Oh well. ^^

Me and my buddy were roaming Horde territory as Night Elves in the normal server and not PVP or Role Play, ran into some cool Tauren and thought we were safe. Then a level 26 PVP Tauren Warrior and a level 19 Tauren Priest sniffed us and toasted us both. We were both maxed at level 20 for the trial server. Laughing out loud

Broke down and bought the game today after I learned about the game cards instead of credit for payment options. Now suffering withdrawal while the 2.6 GB patch uploads.

Heh... well, say hi to Chatty Kathy for us if you run into her in Azeroth. Smile

I checked the Ten Ton Hammer Forums, and she hasn't been there since last November. Hope to see her in game eventually though. Smile

sadly i never thought to think, but since it now x-mas season at the stores, the 2-day sale at circuit city had WoW for 9.99 and the Battlechest for 14.99, sorry ya missed out on the lower price Phoenix. But even at regular price its like 50 cents a day to play and didnt have to go find an empty shelf. so not all lost.

If you see our Kathy

say hello for me, too
- hope she's OK..

I love this trailer for Wrath of the Lich King, gave me chills first time I saw it.

Since some days i'm trying out the WoW-Trail as well, and i must state, this game is really supine and latent with attack intervals 2x-3x than in DS1/2. Sad
Staves e.g. need even more than 3 second per hit, and amazingly the hit animation itself takes less than 1 second the rest you wait - initially i really thought, somethings would be wrong with my keyboard or the way i control the character. Also to refesh life/mana you need to sit down an wait ~15s...
And this all on the background it's a game you pay over time, so anyhow it leaves a insidious impression to me...

However I don't know what level you need to make WoW a drug, but at the beginning it rather seems to be a bitter sleeping pill.

It takes time and planning to build a character in WoW. Your character (any class) gets better as time goes on. After level 10 you start getting the extra benefits of a talent tree that improves your abilities, and you have to start making decisions as to how you want that character to progress. Each class has 3 different sub-classes that affect how your character will grow. My primary character (Rogue) had to choose between Assassination, Subtlety and Combat for how he fought, and what abilities I wanted him to gain proficiency in. My secondary character is a Priest and I'm still deciding which sub-class I want him to specialize. Shadow is out because I want a good PvP build. So I'm still doing research as to which of the other 2 sub-classes (Holy or Discipline) I want him to follow.

The attack speed of weapons/spells also improve with time. The lower the number-the better the attack speed. Some weapons that seem better are actually worse because of a slow DPS (Damage Per Second). And as you gain proficiency with your chosen weapon, your chance to hit, and your chance to get a critical hit improve.

What makes WoW so enjoyable to me is the community of players and the interaction I have with friends and guild members. Our guild is one of the largest ones on our server, and sometimes we get more than our fair share of drama. Then as an officer I have to get it under control or start booting people.

It's about personal preference, WoW isn't everybody's "cup of tea". If you continue with the game, and are playing on Grizzly Hills, give me a shout. ^^

I think i spend more of my time downloading addons for WoW than playing WoW it seems, but i can say i have 20 characters on 2 servers that are level 10 and higher.

I can say that the Rogue is probably one of the easiest classes, seems the only spell i have been using on mine is sinister strike and it does a great deal of damage, its stealth is really nice when doing quests in caves, can get past the enemy real fast.

dont know many players that use staves as the fighting weapon, staves are mostly decoration for mages and used mainly when the mana runs out. and visiting a weaponsmith a player can learn to use the other weapons. im more traditional though and stick to what the character can use.

also it may be noted that some races are more suited for different classes. like for instance trolls are good hunters and rogues cause of there expertise with bows, throwing weapons, each race has a specialty so make sure one uses them.

the game is pretty easy till level 20 then the pking begins. luckily the players under level 20 cant be pk'ed unless they get stupid and attack the higher levels first.

This has got to be one of the best WoW videos I have ever seen. Doesn't appear to be a Blizzard employee which makes it even more impressive.

Thanks for your replies. I have played meanwhile some evenings more and WoW is really an interesting game, however it seem i wouldn't get lucky with physical weapons, melee seem to be too lazy for my taste, and ranged weapons sometimes have a strange offset angle between actor heading and projectile direction.
Concerning the weapon speed, some players told me too it really would become better later in game with more skills and better equipments, but actually i'm more interested in what keeps me playing (and probably paying ;)) the very next month.

Also i wasn't happy with magic initially. Always this sit down to drink water...
However i recently have started a Nightelf to become a Druid, and they seem to have more mana generally and refill it faster anyhow!(?) Like this it makes much more fun now, finally. Smile

However the versatility of WoW is quite amazing. Many things seem to be interactive/usable in several ways and the map is hardly limited (at least there is some freedom to go where you want), eg. I climbed on top of a mountain, felt down on the other side into the water - and there was a ship wreck on the ground! Shock

Well, there was no treasure inside, but it was funny to discover it nevertheless. Laughing out loud

Hehe. Feel like having a beer?

congrats on getting to level 80 thats quite an achievement. bet ya cant wait for the 3.1 patch and the new land being added eh?

That was also some good stuff. Smile

World of Warcraft is working on their next expansion, Cataclysm. Looks interesting, can't wait.

yeah those 2 new characters may make me want to play again, unfortunately i wish they would raise the limit of own characters on a server, as 10 is a bit low. I suspect they will raise the high level to 90 to but they didnt say if that is true. those worgen would make good alliance characters lol

Cool video and song Ulduar

There is a member of my guild that just *has* to be related to SJR. Name is Yuropa...check the avatar.

Broke down and bought Cataclysm. Big changes to the world and play style. Got my main toon up to level 85 now.

i bought cataclysm when it first came out, and it is by far the best expansion... they really destroyed the nightelf area of auberdine with expansion, i almost got lost after it being the old way all those years, and they killed off the nightelves there truly a sad story. i got 2 worgen near level 30 now, if u havent played a worgen should try the hunter they get a cute bulldog-like pet lol. played a few goblins on horde side, they got some hard quests and end up in ogramar. but lately with the computer going down i dont see myself playing wow again anytime soon.

I made an addon for WoW -
http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/de_tracking_broker/

not sure it works with 4.1 though as have no way to test it, it will show up as and out of date addon most likely but should still work.

here are some images of the addon - http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/de_tracking_broker/images/

anyways Volkan can you add my addon to the addons folder of wow and see if it still works for me?
