[DS2] Outcasted Insurgents (oi) in development

Siegelet in the works. Rather busy(not cause it's thanksgiving lol), so I will be updating this. I thought I would post in here since nobody else has yet...

Update:
The OI Team includes the following:

Team Member's titles(subject to change)

Siegelet Designer and documenter - Savante
Siegelet Co-Designer - Jon (will be co-designing soon)
Siegelet manager - Ziatonic
Mapper/level designer and documenter - Sleaker
Concept Artist - Chuckles
Music Composer - Stabbing Pixies.

Special thanks to mcarp for helping out The oi Team and giving community resources!!! Our team will be putting them to good use.

Update:

This mod will be a mature rated mod. There will be nudity and profanity(probably adult content). I'm not designing this for kids. Smile . It's intent is not to be pornographic but free to do whatever. I hope to have some drama(like war! and love) in the storline and more rpgish.

I am not playing favorites for the record. I believe herena forge and siege the day are both going to be strong sites. I am also a fan of both websites. I am working to help both sites out. I also still visit other sites to help out modders when i can. I like to be a part of more than just one site. This is from my blog there and it's a message for ppl to understand my project's concepts more. I am about to announce my project in forge's wiki(I recommend modders of that community to do the same) . the dev blog is sort of unofficial stuff.

I will be updating this.

Open-source

Open-source is a great concept. People will be able to learn and mod the team's work if they wished. This is a good idea for the state the modding community is in as well.

This will also give me the power to say if you don't like it mod it. I think players should have fun and add/take out whatever they like to my teams content whether it be cheating, balancing, or dislike to the mod. It is also neat to add in fun stuff meant just for you or your friends/family/significant other(s). You cannot satisfy everyone as noticed by wise people.

This also goes along great with the other concepts I have such as Alpha Forever.

Alpha Forever

To me art is never finished. You can always work off of prevous art such as a 3d model. I consider modding an art of many forms. The obvious would be 3d modeling, texturing, and music composing.

I came across this idea from mmorpgs streaming their content. I want the world my team builds similar to a mmorpg design. This will also help with players getting bored of the mod. The world I would like to make is impossible to complete(which would be infinite!) thus leaving it in the first stage forever.

This concept also goes very with my other concepts such as Sectional Releasing.

Sectional Releasing

I plan to release the mod's content as we make it. This is the only way Alpha Forever could work. I like this idea because you get accomplishments and feedback faster. This will aslo help team members release their work outside of my project oi(note to self add more on this). This will also be an interesting experiment on the player base. Will they hate it or love it?

Now you may wonder about this affecting the storyline's ending. There is no end it's infinite too! I hate when stories end. Now this will leave with another concept already thought up. I'm calling it Dynamic Storyline.

Project Contributing Alliance Pact (PCA Pact)

An agreement between projects to exchange content throughout development. If you need content and think you have something to offer oi contact me. Open-source projects are required for OI to PCA Pact with. To help promote each other's projects it is required to say what projects you are pacting with(in game credits too) . This is mutual for credit. More details worked out when making this pact. Others may use this concept/word if they would like

Dynamic storyline

The story will be told with the sectional releases. This concept will be very interesting. This will leave the player wondering what's next.

Now I like players to be able to choose their path. So the storyline will not be linear. The storyline can be linked through conversations and actions the player chooses to do.

Thoughts I need to work out.

for team members(need to work on it)

acquiring modding knowledge working with oi
releasing work from oi into the community
members have a say in the mod's design
members work on what they want or have fun doing.
members getting burned out and switching aspects of work.
other members carring on burned out members work.

other thoughts(work on later)

project documentation and sharing knowledge with the community
when i quit and somone wants to work on oi again or a member continuing project.
demo content releasing.
using community resources such as mcarp's nodes[/b]

Better camera views

New nodes from mcarp's house tut.

region with foliage added.

another pic of region

another pic of region

Me and a trent(not a summon or party member) fight a pixie together. Hope to add in a faction system later on. A dev test for the pixie.

Looking great! Laughing out loud

Looking good... Laughing out loud Cool

Thank you :). I've been working on new loot macros and mosnter templates. dubbing it custom monsters. Though it is different than ds2's way of monsters. I'm going to have monster specific loot. I am also trying to help out others in the mean time.

Edit: My team is unofficial atm. I have been quite busy and apologize for not being able to talk to them enough. I am hoping to get a demo out before I go to florida this christmas. Lack of documentation has slowed me down atm. Also have to work on wiki tomorrow having some trouble with accessing it atm.

I look forward to the further development of this and I do like the fact that you don't shy from mature content even if the screenshots didn't give us any hint of that, is it graphical or dialoge or both?

I have somone who wants to do the dialog(they are busy atm). That part will not be done right away. The dialog should be nonlinear as well. Right now it's all visual. I will be adding or getting help adding in a crafting system as well. And ty I have nothing to hide but the storyline and easter eggs Smile .

Hey all just showing off progress of my map here, as part of the OI team!

Ok trying to get priorities straight so OI's co-designer can actually work with me /lol. I will be working on a siegelet design doc for awhile. I don't think I will be able to get a demo out fast enough. I was hoping to get one out for ppl to have fun with. Nothing big just a small map with some custom stuff. That's ok though I've been rushing myself.

Is it allowed to give suggestions? I have one right here: more towns and merchants. The town portals reduced the "need" for towns from a logistical point of view but more towns and competing merchants in the same town and a few along the road like it was done in DS1 adds a lot to the atmosphere of the world, it felt better. For the competing merchants, Morrowind have merchants, in the same city that actually gives of sidequests where they want the player to help them get an edge on their compeditor or help them defend against their compeditors dirty tricks.

Ya, I actually like suggestions. Where you buy things will be based on faction. The rpg element of this is not about big cities but being outcasted from them. There will be various venders around. Underground societies and such. There may be some towns you can buy from after sieging them /lol . I'll be working on a doc for some time, so I will take suggestions into consideration. A competive npc selling system would be nice, but I'm no programmer ;( .

It isn't hard to create a compedative selling system. You just need two merchant resanobly close to each other selling the same type of items and prasing thir own products over thir compeditor. Completion of a quest to help/sabotage one of them could lead to the PC being offered better prices from whoever benefited from the deed. A victim of sabotage would refuse to trade anything with the PC if he/she knows of the PC's involment in the sabotage, alternativly they could demand that the PC compensate them by doing a quest for the them. Faction based trading exist to some extent in Morrovind, each facton seems to have some "members only" shops and teachers as well as some that are open to the public. Morrowind also allow for multiple faction membership but only to an extent, you cannot be ranked high in competing factions since they sooner or later will give you a mission that will hurt the other faction making them label you as an enemy. There is no problems in achiving a high rank within multiple allied factions thou. However it is fully possible to primarily be a member to a faction that are neutral to two other factions that are hostive to each other while having a low level membership within the two competing factions. It is just a question of not asking for a to high level of advancement withn those factions. Low level members don't gett access to all services thou but more then the general public do.

Suggestion: Give us some kind of stronghold, a home. The player owns the stronghold and anyone there take their orders from the player. A stronghold would be a place with a huge storage capacity, suggestably in the form of non movable "mules" (chests) that holds things. An alternative could be a shop that buy and sell anything for zero money and never update their inventory on their own. I do not know if this is possible to do thou. The stronghold would also work as a sort of "inn" to send team members to if you so prefer. An additonal function of the stronghold would also be a place to get quests from in the form of an resident NPC informing the player that someone are looking for the player. Some of thease quests could be impossible to refuse being orders sent by whoever gave them the stronghold in the first place.

For mature content: I suggest you contact Bare_Elf for this department considering that she hs already designed several sets of clothing for DS1's Cat Mansion mod that would fall into this catagory. I do not think those can be converted by we do know that she likes to do such things. By the way, the Morrowind community are flooded in "mature conted" clothing as well as normal one.

I like ur ideas niceguy. I will comment on this later. Have to wait for co-designer and also taking a few off OI for another project. Plz keep working on OI. I am not leaving it at all. I have a rather important project to work on that needs to get out soon.

Edit: Back on working on oi. I guess I will not have a co-designer Sad .

Edit: I also have a lot of talk going on with ppl interested in this project.

Edit: Found new co-designer that I have worked with in the past with non-ds game design. Just waiting for his laptop to come in from financial aid. He will also be moving in with me on school days. Chuckles is near by and is in my math class too! Woot

I ended oi because of gpg's attitude. I have been hoping it would change Sad .

Icemage has reminded me of gpg's attitude from ds1's start. It's up to us ppl. I am not sure if I will revive this mod or not in the future.

He stopped by the irc channel. Also released his source for rebalanee if you are interested. Oc put it up at the forge. Gpg did not have a great attitude for ds1 either and we struggled at ds1's start. I think I got spoiled looking at the support other games got for modding, heh. I realize now that it is up to the community for support.
