Rehtael's Dungeon Siege series! (That he said he'd do, just not when.)

The actual mod you guys made is all prepped and ready for Episode 1. Our channel often releases an episode 0 for one reason or another as a sort of preamble.

Hey Rehtael,

I watched your episode 0 that you said you would do, just not when. It must have been annoying to sort out the problems. I've had to use the windows trouble shooter a number of times with Dungeon Siege when I "updated" to Win 10 (aren't updates supposed to make things better)? Steve

So, I just wanted to clarify that I was the creator of the mod and the only person who actually worked on it. I am not trying to brag or anything. Er, I guess I'm insecure? Something like that. Tired

I've always found the community here to be very supportive and generous with their time and their knowledge so I really do want to acknowledge the folks who posted in the thread with feedback, plus information about mapping and other technical things. All of which was very valuable, especially to a "noob" modder like me.

Do let us know about episode 1. The one that you said you were doing but just not when. :P

Right, I credited the community for two reasons: 1 was the input from multiple people sharing feedback and ideas, 2 was in the interest of calling out the support of the community as a whole so should anyone come visit, they know it's not just one or two people in here. Naturally I appreciate your work specifically, and I'll update video descriptions in future to include mention that you made it.

Also we've gotten a few more hours of recording in for episode 1 and likely 2.

Kind of overestimated our strength in numbers... But you'll see what I mean eventually.

I'm sorry to say I came close to registering a thumbs down on episode 0, for things like:

- ignoring the flashing red journal symbol in the bottom right of the screen after collecting the first quest from the opening cutscene;
- not opening inventory to show and explain what you'd picked up the first few times;
- not bothering to equip fire shot and zap spells - it would have been nice, for viewers new to the game, to see the spells being used once or twice, just for show; also to see a switch over to bow;
- irritating short cuts and splices early on - let viewers get used to "boring" bits before starting to skip them, and find a good way to mark the transitions when you do.

Looks like you need more practice with the party controls. That earlier run from crypts exit to town, shown towards the end of the video, with Ulora recruited yet left to her fate, following behind - why didn't you have both of them selected to run the gauntlet side by side?

I do understand your idea about credit for the community and pointing out that this is a fun and supportive site, not to mention it is one of the few sites left for Dungeon Siege 1&2. Yes, there were ideas about mapping and things in the thread, which I did not put into "your" mod. I did make notes because I have ideas and that info will be quite useful. I specifically made the mod so that the characters can be summoned and thus not tied to one specific campaign, but able to be used with almost any map.

Developing new characters, quests, equipment and skins is popular, as can be seen in the download section of the site. Iryan's "Legends of Utrae" is one such project that incorporates so much content, well, if you haven't tried it you should (if you have the loa expansion).

I posted in the thread information about my own character mod that I've been working on for a few years now. What with health and time problems but mostly because I want to add just "one more thing", I'm not sure when it will be completed. Posting that idea grew into *me* suggesting a custom made mod with names and general appearances of the characters, all based on your suggestions.

As for feedback, Moros deserves the lion's share of credit for that as he is the only one who play tested the mod for me, to my knowledge. I was glad to have another set of eyes "proof reading" the mod as I do get distracted and end up omitting details here and there.

I don't know what to say, really. Just writing this post makes me feel like a witch, but I was really taken aback that you didn't even mention me specifically, at all. I put a fair amount of my own time making this mod, customizing the skins (some more than others) and trying to get the characters to match what you wanted.

Well, no worries I guess. I think I am taking a needed break from posting, modding and all that stuff. Holiday time is not good kathy time, plus yada yada yada.

Good Luck ( and I really do mean that) with your video project.

The video was pretty jagged, I agree. But I think it was more of an unofficial video that is just trying to show a few things and basically doing a speed run to Stonebridge. At least that's the impression I got. I did feel sort of bad for poor Ulora though, gosh. Sad

I think the "official" video series might be multiplayer?

Just watched your Episode 1 posted on YouTube before Christmas.

Looking forward to seeing how your mob of low-levels gets through Wesrin Cross.
