I considered the EOS Rebel when I went digital, but Canon annoyed me with their deliberate policy not to let their older lenses work with the digital camera range. I had an A-1 film camera with a bunch of good lenses (up to a 500mm telephoto) and no way to use them. So I ended up going EVIL (Electronic Viewfinder, Interchangable Lenses) with an Olympus instead.
I still don't have a smartphone, and would prefer my flip-phone to be even dumber than it is. I'm not even sure that text messages belong there, but it's a borderline case.
