I have very bad eye sight. I wore trifocals as a kid. I'm cannot see jack without my glasses and still have a hard time seeing road signs. I do most of my reading online. It is easier for me. I also like to highlight text with my mouse.

Actually, yes. Gardner also puts forth different ideas and ways of looking at cognitive development (challenging those of Piaget) that coincide with his "multiple intelligence" theory. Intelligence has always seemed to me to be a very unique quality that would be difficult to quantify merely by a number. I think we can all recognize the differences between someone of low intelligence vs a genius, but in between those 2 poles exists a lot of room for variety. For example I am not very good at all with spatial reasoning ( I can't drive my way out of a paperbag) but I excell at expressing ideas and concepts with verbally. (That is why I always get an A on papers and then get lost driving home... :P)
I guess the important thing to remember is that these are theories. Theories in psychology attempt to explain the human mind and behavior, and I don't think any one theory is intrinsically wrong or right. I think there is a lot to be learned from all sorts of different ideas, even conflicting ones.
I tend to think a lot of classical Freudian thought is a bunch of hogwash (to my modern mind) yet in his time, his theories were cutting edge (ideas about the id, sexuality, ect...) Now that I have bored everyone, I will stop blabbing.
A lot of the freudian stuff goes against good psychology imo. I hate his view on humanity and the guy was daft imo. Freud had some things right though. I like Wrights radical ideas for social repression.
I am labeled with having a learning disability which is just not true. I personally blame schools for being linear in their teaching methods. They put me in dumb classes throughout my life and I was bored. I dropped out from bored to death /lol. College has treated me much better though. I had to go to a private school to get some decent education though. This school focuses on hands on practical stuff which is what my type of intelligence needs. The university I used to go to was all lecture based and bored the crap out of me. It doesn't matter now, since I have a good gpa. I like Gardner for identifying the types of intelligence the best he could in his thoery. I think it's a step forward for development.
I get lost all the time driving as well. I hate driving actually. My brain is very dumb at navigating a car . I have a fear of getting lost as well. I never got into an accident before(I'm very cautious). I read Einstein had issues with just operating a car /heh.
