------------------------
Thanks like Bare_Elf: I just downloaded the new files and will check it after my supper. More versions in the future like 0.6/0.7 or better 1.0?
And versions in french/German?
How many hours to play complete game?
Thanks again
Hi Ulyss, thanks for downloading & hope you like it!
The test playthru for this release was about 5h; your mileage may vary a lot.
You are exactly right, there'll be a 0.6 and a 0.7 and then a 1.0
0.6 (Aldebaran) is planned for July,
0.7 (Sirius) is planned for August,
1.0 (polishing) is planned for September.
For the 1.0 I'll make a German translation. I don't know much French except bonjour/baguette (désolé) but if you'd want to make a French translation that would be great.
Here's what a translation file looks like (from my previous map project Pentachoron Garden)

I am on Altair the Dwarf Home World Planet 3 if you do not count the planet you start on. Took 1 hour 45 minutes, completing all the quests that can be completed. Just hired my friend Sig of Mugmort. After a beer or five, we will go find the star stone and complete the quests. So 5 hours give or take 30 minutes seems to be how long the game will take.
First let me say I deleted all the old files saves before starting version 0.5. I made it to Rigel B and found the pyramid that has no top. Within this pyramid I expected to find a star stone I did not already to have. Maybe the Sirius star stone, however I found another copy of the Altair Star Stone. On Rigel A I did not find any star stones, did I miss one? If I did not miss a Star Stone somewhere I am stuck and can not continue, HELP!!
Yeah I kinda have too many places on each star to put starstones, and the player needs to try out which place has which starstone...
Of course the journey isn't in vain - as consolation you find two(!) set items inside the pyramid. (Which by the way totally has a top, I swear.)
You are not lost: the Aranna starstone can be found in 3(!) places:
- On Rigel-Ixchel, out in the wetlands, just past the Skull of the Fallen God. If you walk west to the life shrine you'll fall down into a dungeon.
- On the Ice Moon of Altair (which I remember you weren't very fond of)
- On the dark jungle moon of Vega - walk roughly southeast, you'll get to a bright area with some cliffs and there's a little cave.
All 3 of these will be replaced with the Aldebaran starstone in 0.6, where you'll get the Aranna starstone, so basically the 3 options will stay the same.
My problem is with the Altair Star Stone, which I already have. and all I can find is the Altair Star Stone.
If Empire of Stars v0.5: Droog Origins ends on Rigel, I completed it in 4 hours 27 minutes Ulyss. I understand now Foerstj why the star stones on Rigel are ones I already have, it is because v0.5 has finished. Silly Elf thought there was more. For version 0.6 could you make a hireable Droog?
That is very funny foerstj
No but seriously, I don't think I can do that. I don't think the Droog templates have any handling for displaying worn armor, and they certainly walk way too slow to be any kind of fun as a party member. I'd love to have a hireable Droog tho. If you give me a template I'll definitely put it in!
So if you want to have more party members I recommend to make a quick visit to Altair and hire Sig & Areianus.
Cause contrary to what you keep telling me, you should get the Altair starstone from the Elder of the Lake and the Rigel starstone from Annek back in Palim Palim. I just tested it again yesterday. Are you sure you started a new game? Do you have an old version of the .dsres in the Resources folder and a new one in the DSLOA folder or something like that??
Here's proof. Boobies in pictures so click to view in full size. Please don't ban me Orix.
walk speed wouldnt be an issue that can be improved in template but the lack of armor could be a problem, it is possible to just use their skin, and there is a way to turn off equipping armor on characters as well.. technically all npc in game are hireable. i think the droog would be more a pet than anything...but thats another story.
As you advised Foerstj I checked for old files and found v0.1 dres and dsmap files located in Ds1 resources folder. Deleting these files fixed "the elder at the lake quest" and now have the the two star stones. Thank you.
I would find it awesome to have any kind of hireable Droog, even without the ability to equip him. Of course then the question arises how useful it would be - characters without armor die too quickly. We could give him good stats to begin with, but you couldn't improve them anymore in the course of the playthru right? Maybe it could work like the mules/tragg that gain levels with the rest of the party? Anyways I won't make a hireable Droog, too much trouble, but if it's easy for you of course I'd use it & mention you as contributor
Bare Elf glad to hear it works again!
What do I need to find on the Ice Moon to complete the Ice Moon Quest?
The Ice Moon consists of 3 regions: the mesa, the canyon, and the cave. You get teleported to the bottom of the mesa. You have to find a way up to the top, then walk across the tops (over some ice bridges) to the entrance of the canyon (where the surrounding terrain is again higher than the path). You traverse the canyon to the other end where the entrance of the cave is. The cave is small and contains boss enemies which hold a starstone and a set item. Then I'm afraid you have to walk back. Good luck and enjoy smashing the ice creatures!
Take a lot of items to drop as a "bread crumb" trail tho
started working on a hireable Droog
Droog do wear armor, as seen in towns with the neutral and good droog guards.
As discussed in PMs, the Hireable Droog snippet is completely untested so no point in checking it out at this stage yet. Still hopeful to see sth working produced!
Voilà some dev screenies of the ruins of the Palace of Light:
Aldebaran will be a lost part of the Empire still in existence. You'll find out the Empire had a twin capital city: part of it was on Aranna with the Palace of Night, and part of it was on Aldebaran with the Palace of Light. While you don't get to see the former in the game, you get to see the latter, and have to find a starstone there. There'll also be a library with some lorebooks that I'll make up out of thin air until then.
So @kathycf I checked out your dress!
I put it on a Utraean female NPC and the following error was displayed:
However it was still put on her:
But the error reappears everytime I re-open the region.
Ingame it looks like this:
As I thought it could use a little more texture, but otherwise it's really pretty!
As the error suggests there is a little problem with the boots, tho. They're sticking out of the sides.
And I also noticed that the hands are white. Are they supposed to be in gloves? I mean, it'll look funny next to topless half-giants but we can do that
Here is the original image for the dress.
I'm not sure why the texture looks so flat in your screenshot. I actually used a fabric sample for the texture and tried to make it a very pale pink. I have no idea about why you are seeing white hands or anything like that.
Dresses aren't normally armor items for player characters, so gloves and boots will clip through like crazy. Several years ago I made a small armor mod to use the dress model as an in-game item. I used the armor mod idea when making the Utraen woman's dress, giving it an armor value, icon etc. All that stuff isn't necessary for an NPC that is just hanging out and is likely the source of some of the errors you are seeing. I'm just so used to making mods for armor.
Taking a different template approach might work better.
Using this LoA Utraen female template as an example, you could substitute your npc texture info as well as the dress texture info and then simply delete the template that I originally made.

Thank you Kathy, I was able to finish my NPC using your template.
The character is the Seeress on Aldebaran who foresees the arrival of the party. Mostly Half-Giants live in the town, but also some Utraeans and Dwarves.
Oh, cool. You're welcome. Do her hands still look weird? It's hard to tell from the screen shot.
Her hands are the usual bluish-gray again. It's better visible when hovering.
Yet another sneak peek post. Hopefully I'll be able to release 0.6 in July.
Someone over on discord made this legionnaire robe that I was able to use, check it out on these Half-Giant 10th Legion mages
Also I made a planetary ring that you can visit to smash some shards, theme is "from outer space", hope you like it.
